Transmission Questions
How do I know if my semi-truck transmission is failing?
Common signs include:
✔️ Trouble shifting gears
✔️ Grinding, clunking or whining noises
✔️ Jumping out of gears
✔️ Leaking transmission fluid
✔️ Overheating or warning lights on automated models
If you notice these issues, bring your truck in for a diagnostic test ASAP to avoid costly breakdowns.
Do you offer transmission rebuilds or just replacements?
We offer both transmission rebuilds and replacements based on the condition of your unit. A rebuild can save money if internal components are still in good shape.
How long does a transmission repair take?
Most R&R (removal & replacement) jobs take 1-2 days. Rebuilds may take a little longer. CRC stocks a good supply in our parts department but on occasion something may need to be ordered from the manufacturer. We strive to get truckers back on the road fast.
What brands of transmissions do you work on?
We specialize in Eaton Fuller, Detroit, Paccar, Spicer, transmissions, as well as other heavy-duty gearbox systems.
Do you repair Automated transmissions?
We service Freightliner Detroit 12 speeds, Peterbilt-Kenworth-Paccar 12 speeds and Eaton Fuller Endurant and Ultrashift transmissions.
Clutch & Differential Questions
How often should I replace my semi-truck’s clutch?
Most clutches last between 200,000 to 500,000 miles, depending on driving conditions and maintenance. Signs of a failing clutch include slipping, grinding when engaging a gear from a stop, difficulty shifting, and loss of power.
What are the signs of a bad differential?
Look out for noises, clunking, whining, excessive vibrations, and skipping feeling when turning. Ignoring differential issues can lead to gear failure and costly breakdowns.
Do you offer warranties on your repairs?
Yes! We stand behind our work with 2years on Roadranger transmissions and 1 year on all other Transmissions and Differentials.
Driveline Questions
What are the signs my truck needs driveline work?
Vibrations, play in u-joints, carrier bearings and yokes. Sometimes driveline vibrations can be easily repaired with an adjustment to the air ride height.
